Independent Contractor (1099) Agreements

Independent Contractor (1099) Agreements

These days, many business owners hire independent contractors instead of employees on a payroll. Often, these are referred to as "1099s" due to the tax form issued to an independent contractor. Hiring independent contracts is a hot legal issue that needs the guidance of an experienced business attorney.  Why? Let's look at the nature of the risk of hiring independent contractors instead of employees.

Independent contractors should be a person or company that performs work for a number of other business owners. An independent contractor should NOT be exclusive to your business.
